Lifting the FA Trophy

Thirteen years ago today JJ Sports Promotions, Managing Director, Terry Brumpton enjoyed one of his proudest moments in football. As Managing Director of his hometown club, Hednesford Town, he saw the Pitmen beat `red-hot` favourites Canvey Island 3-2, in a pulsating game to win the FA Trophy in a final that was played at Villa Park, instead of Wembley Stadium which was being re-developed at the time. The game ebbed and flowed, with the Pitmen 1-0 up, then 2-1 down, but they won the game thanks to a fine goal from full back Les Hines and then a terrific volley from central defender Chris Brindley to cap a memorable afternoon for Hednesford.
